Portable Site Heating – Energy-Efficient Options

Portable Site Heating – Energy-Efficient Options

Work doesn’t stop just because the weather is cold – in fact, for many trades, it speeds up! Keeping your team warm on site can be a struggle, and factoring in rising energy costs it can be tempting to encourage them to pull on an extra jumper and stop complaining…but if you would rather have a warm, happy, productive team who get through the work faster, it’s time to think about energy efficient site heating.

There is no easy answer to which is the best heater for site work, as no two sites are the same. Sometimes you just need something to stave off the cold when you can’t put a property’s heating on, and sometimes you are in a large space with poor insulation and it’s going to be impossible to heat the whole space effectively.

Instead of recommending one solution, we’ve decided to tell you about the top four types of portable heaters we sell to help you choose the best one for your work.

1 Ceramic Heaters

Our ceramic fan heaters use electricity to heat up a ceramic element, and a fan disperses it throughout the room. What that means is, you get a constant source of heat, but it doesn’t get hot enough to be a fire or burn risk, which is great news for your site safety! Ceramic heaters are also lightweight and smaller than many other types of heaters, making them easily portable.

Ceramic fan heaters heat up quickly, requiring less energy than oil and propane to get you warmed up faster, and since they have fewer moving parts than their fuel-burning counterparts, they tend to last longer and be very reliable.

2 Industrial Fan Heaters

Industrial fan heaters offer dry heat with no condensation, no gas, no fumes and no smell which is ideal for enclosed spaces, but they also generate enough heat for larger spaces. They offer a versatile and practical way to heat your workspace. Most are electrical and heavy – but portable! As long as proper maintenance protocols are followed and safety measures are taken into account, these units can provide years of reliable service at a relatively low running cost.

3 Infrared Heaters

The important difference between infrared heaters and other portable site heating options is that they don’t attempt to heat the entire space, instead they direct radiant heat at the person working. While that might make them seem like the ideal solution for small spaces, they are actually a great option for larger buildings where heating the whole space would be expensive and time-consuming.

They are portable and because they aren’t attempting to heat the entire space, infrared heaters are relatively energy-efficient and cost-effective.

4 Paraffin & Diesel Heaters

All of our paraffin and diesel space heaters are designed to heat large areas making them perfect for open work sites, large spaces and warehouses. They are hardy, durable, and made to withstand all of the chaos of a work site. They are also very reliable and tend to require less maintenance than other forms of heaters, and are relatively energy efficient.

So there is no one right answer to the best heater for your work site, but lots of great, energy-efficient options for you to choose from. If you need more help, visit one of our stores for one-to-one advice from our trained staff.
